Ph.D.
The Department offers Ph.D. programme in different areas of education. The condition of admission to Ph.D. and other particulars relating to it are given in the ‘Regulation for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy’. The booklet and the Form of Application for Ph.D. can be had from the Office of the Controller of Examinations, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, on payment of Rs.30/-.
M.Ed. (Special Education)
M.Ed. (Special Education) is a full-time one year course leading to the specialization in the education of the handicapped. Areas of specialization are: Education of the Visually Handicapped, Learning Disabilities, Orthopaedic & Neuromuscular disorders. Eligibility: Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education with 50% marks OR B.Ed. Degree with one year course in Special Education with 50% marks in both OR Diploma for Secondary School teachers of visually handicapped or any other disability for which graduation from any institution recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India with atleast 50% marks. Total No. of Seats : 15 (General Seats - 8,, SC/ST Seats - 3, Seats for the Jamia B.Ed./B.Ed. (Special Education) - 4)
M.A. (Education)
The M.A. (Education) is a full time two year course for the preparation of teachers, teacher-educators and research workers in areas like Language Education, Social Science Education, Science Education and Educational Technology. A candidate seeking admission to the M.A. (Education) course should have secured at least 50% marks in the Bachelor’s Degree Examination ( a three year course after the 10+2 Examination) of the Jamia Millia Islamia or any other recognised University. The number of seats is limited to ten (10) with the following distribution of seats: I) General Seats - 5, SC/ST Seats -2, (iii) Seats for Jamia Students: 3
B.Ed.
The B.Ed. is full time one year Course for the preparation of secondary and senior secondary school teachers. Eligibility:
(i)	An applicant must have at least 50% marks in his/her Bachelor’s Degree Examination (excluding B.Com. (Hons.), B.Com. (Pass) and B.A./B.Sc. Vocational Studies) of the Jamia Millia Islamia or any other recognised University.
(ii)	A candidate, who has obtained at least 45% marks in his/her Bachelor’s Degree examination (excluding B.A./B.Sc. Vocational Studies) and also obtained at least 50% marks in the Master’s Degree examination in a teaching excluding(ii-vi) as mentioned below:
	(a) Language Group: (I) Hindi, (ii) Urdu, (iii) English, (iv) Arabic, (v) Persian
	(b) Social Science Group: (I) History, (ii) Political Science, (iii) Geography, (iv) Economics, (v) Commerce, (vi) Social Sciences, (vii) Islamic Studies
	(c) Science Group: (I) Physics, (ii) Chemistry, (iii) Biological Sciences, (iv) Home Science, (v) Mathematics
(iii)	Applicants for teaching of Commerce must posses a Master’s Degree in Commerce with at least 50% marks.
iv)	Those candidates who have passed their B.A. examination in one language only, after completing an examination conducted by language education institution e.g. Sahitya Ratna, Adib-e-Kamil etc. are not eligible for admission.
	Such Urdu medium candidate should have passed High School or a Higher Examination with Urdu as a subject. The Urdu medium category students will be provided instruction in Urdu medium keeping in view of the requirements of the Urdu medium schools. Total No. of Seats: 200

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed., Nursery)
IASE of Jamia Millia is also offering a course for preparing teachers for the preprimary and lower primary level. The preparation for teaching at preprimary is unique and different from the training for elementary secondary education. The course is offered by the IASE since 1996 and has the approval of NCTE. It's a pioneering attempt to train teachers for the preprimary (nursery) level by offering a course at the graduate level. Hither to the diploma in nursery teacher training (NTT) was conducted by various institutes with entry-level requirement as plus two. The course is the right choice for those who want to teach the youngest children This course will equip the student to:
=	take up teaching position at the nursery and primary levels in the government and private schools
=	pursue post graduate degree in education (M.Ed and M.Ed[Elem])
=	take up teaching position and research in the non-formal education in programmes run by NGOs and voluntary organizations.
=	take up training jobs in the Anganwadi Teachers Training Programmes.
=	start and run nursery schools and crèches. The admission to this course is through a separate entrance examination conducted by Jamia Millia Islamia.
