Vision Statement

To spearhead research and innovation in emerging areas of Electrical Engineering, and to create an enabling environment to train innovative, capable and highly motivated intellectual manpower to meet India’s technological needs in close partnership with the industry.

Since its inception in 1985, the Department of Electrical Engineering has registered tremendous growth in teaching and research. The Department offers a regular four-year B. Tech. program in “Electrical Engineering” and a regular M.Tech. program in “Electrical Power System Management”. The Department also runs a four-year B.E. (evening) program in “Electrical Engineering” for working professionals with Diploma. The Department is also actively engaged in research leading to Ph.D. degree.

Most of the faculty members have received prestigious awards and have published papers in refereed International/National journals and conferences. The Department has received generous grants from funding agencies like AICTE, MHRD, UGC, DRDO and has successfully completed a number of Research and Development and Thrust Area Projects worth more than rupees one crore. The Department has well established facilities for research work in the areas of power and energy systems, robotics and automation, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Distribution Automation, Power Electronics, Power Quality & Energy Audit, Soft Computing and many allied areas. The Department has conceived, designed and executed a unique state of the art center for SCADA research and training.  Currently research is going on in the areas of Power System Automation, Deregulated Power Systems, Demand forecasting, Sub-optimal Generation control, Instrumentation & Control, Power Quality, Internet protocols, Soft Computing techniques etc.

A large number of leading organizations are regularly visiting for campus placements. The students of earlier batches have been gainfully employed in reputed public and private sector organizations in India and abroad.
