| Vibodh Parthasarathi maintains a multidisciplinary interest in communication theory, media policy and comparative media practice. He is one of the series editors of the Sage series on 'Communication Processes', of- which the first volume, 'Media and Mediation' was published in 2005, and the second, 'Domination and Defiance' is in press. Earlier, he was the international coordinator of an intercultural publishing project on 'Communication and Citizenship', involving scholars and publishers from Brazil, France and India, and co-edited the resulting anthology 'L'idiot du Village Mondial'; Editions Luc Pire, Brussels/Paris, 2004. | |
| His current research focuses on the music industry in India, both during its formative years (1900-1914) and in present times (1995-2005), the latter being pursued at the CJ NS as a Visiting Professor. | |

Over the years, his work has gained support from the Charles Wallace Trust, Charles Leopold Mayer Foundation, Commonwealth Fund for Technical Cooperation, India Foundation for the Arts and Netherlands Fellowship Programme. He has taught courses in communication theory at government and private universities in India. "Crosscurrents--a Fijian travelogue" (54", DigiBeta, English/Hindustani, 2002) his last documentary, explored the many faces of 'reconciliation' after the decade of coups in the Pacific nation. An active participant in various professional fora, he has been the Founding International Member, Intercultural Library for the Future (Paris), Associate, South Asian Poverty Network Association (Colombo), Member, Academic Council, Institute of Social Studies (The Hague), and Member, Society of Indian Record Collectors (Bombay). |
