| Jamia Millia Islamia is known
for promoting sports and games among the student youth. The Sports activities in Jamia are
organized through a University Sports Committee which is chaired by a senior university
professor. Jamia offers sports facilities in games such as Badminton, Cricket, Foot-ball,
Hockey, Basket-ball, Table tennis, Boxing, Handball, Athletics and Shooting etc. In order
to facilitate the proper conduct of these games clubs in these have been constituted and
each club is headed by a university teacher.
Jamia offers special concessions and relaxation in admissions to outstanding
sports persons.
Over the years, Jamia Millia Islamia has
grown in stature and has produced several sports persons who have been representing India
in various international tournaments. Following is a brief description of some of the
major achievements of Jamia in recent years.
- Jamia won All India Inter University Cricket,
Rohinton Baria Trophy held at Banaras Hindu University in the year 1990 91.
- Jamia won the All India Inter University
Basket Ball championship in (Men) section in the year 1992 93.
- Jamia won third place in All India Inter
University Hockey championship held at Gwalior in the year 1990 91 and 1997-98.
- Jamia Boxing Team won IIIrd position in All
India Boxing Inter University in the year 1993 94, (One Boxer won Gold Medal and
four Bronze Medals).
- Jamia Boxing Team won IVth place in All India
Boxing championship in the year 1996 97.(Three Boxers won Silver Medals).
- Jamia Table Tennis (Men) team won third place
in the North Zone Inter- Varsity championship held at Gurukul Kangri, Haridwar. (1998
99)
- Jamia won the OVER ALL CHAMPIONSHIP
TROPHY in All India I.I.T. Kanpur sports festival. (1998 99)
- Mr. Arun Sharma won Silver Medal in Light
Weight category in All India Inter University Boxing Championship held at Rohtak. (1998
99)
- Jamia Millila Hockey team won the IIIrd place
in the VIIth NEHRU SAIL CHAMPION COLLEGES HOCKEY TOURNAMENT and were awarded cash prize of Rs.40,000/=. (1998 99)
- Mr. Anil Kumar represented Delhi State Boxing
team in IIIrd National Games held of Imphal won Bronze Medal in light weight category.

- Jamia Hockey team were runners up in North
Zone Inter University championship held at Meerut. (1997 98)
- Jamia Table Tennis (Men) team won North Zone
Inter University held at Dr. Y.S. Parmar University, Solan. (1997 98)
- Mr. Anil Kumar won Silver Medal in All India
Inter University Boxing Championship in light weight category and Mr. Arun Sharma won
Bronze Medal in Feathe weight category. (1997 98)
- Jamia Hockey team won PEPSI BEST PENALTY
CORNER AWARD and were awarded cash award of Rs.8,000/=. (1997 98)
- Mr. Ajit Singh and Jagroop Singh selected best
players of the VIth NEHRU-SAIL CHAMPION COLLEGES HOCKEY TOURNAMENT. (1997 98).
